Three Capitals’ Battle It’s an annual hip-hop festival taking place in the city of Perm’, Urals. Perm’ challenges Moscow and St. Pete’s trying to prove it’s right to be the center of russian contemporary culture. The battles include four main elements of hip-hop – graffiti, breaking, scratching and freestyle rap. Around a hundred most skilled hip-hoppers come to Perm’ both from Moscow and St.Pete for a weekend to show their best. The goal of the festival is to develop russian hip-hop culture by the most classic means – battles. We all know that competition is the main reason for the progress. So hip-hop is not an exclusion. Through its three year history the festival gave a real push to the local hip-hop culture. Many talented representatives of all the four elements of hip-hop got their respect and fame and many bright careers started.
Almost all the most important players in the russian hip-hop scene took part in the Capitals’ Battle. Just to notice a few: Dan Melamid aka DanTheMan (hip-hop director, NYC), dj Woody (Ninja Tune, UK), b-boy Freeze (Sweden), Aroe (MSK Crew, London), Soten and Tiws (Denmark), Detsl aka Le Truk (Moscow), dj Hobot (Kasta), Check (Moscow), Crack (St.Pete’s), Dj Bazil (True Flavas, St.Pete’), dj 108 (DA108, St. Pete’s), Mister Maloy (Moscow0, Canicool (Moscow), TOP9 Crew (St. Pete’s), AllTheMost Crew (Moscow), graffiti writers from all the top russian crews, such as Funk Fanatix, TAD, ATAS, OLDBOYS, KGM, OMUT, SAR, BTK, RNG, KGM, MDT, FIRMA, PUSSY and many more..
And now to the most interesting part – the Moscow city government has invited Three Capitals’ Battle Festival to take part in the celebration of the Moscow City Day. It will take place in one of the central city squares on September, 1st, 2012. So, stay tuned, follow the news and keep it hip-hop!
