There are many artists whom deal with faces and portraits in their work. History is full of stories of grandeur where the wealthy adorn their homes with portraits documenting their lineage and strengthening their self importance. In a recent studio visit to German artists AKUT (from HERAKUT fame), we watch as he makes a completely different take on the portrait. Using Montana GOLD spray paint, Montana ACRYLIC markers and scraps of paper. Montana GOLD’s low pressure and fast drying times allow Akut freedom to mix, blend and paint as well as apply with his fingers. Even wet on wet. The vast, artist quality and lightfast array of colors make combing Montana GOLD and ACRYLIC markers a dream.

MONTANA-CANS STUDIO VISIT AKUT

Watch as he incorporates Montana GOLD TRANSPARENT colors giving extra depth and dimension to an image that is far from flat and formless. With a touch of Montana VARNISH, his image has it’s longevity increased and the picture receives yet another level of craftsmanship. The unpredicted special touch was the Montana UV-EFFECT signature that is as discrete as it is interesting. With his roots in the far from opulent graffiti game, Akut is renowned for his abilities to make realistic artworks with aerosol paint. His personal and combined work as HERAKUT, is a multi-medium, multi-dimensional space.

Montana GOLD to be exact and with the introduction of the ACRYLIC marker range, his personal and combined work as HERAKUT, is a multi-medium, multi-dimensional space.

STUDIO VISIT AKUT HERAKUT

In a recent visit to his studio, we were privileged to see Akut create one of his most recent works of what looks like the face of a woman of Arabic descent, that was photographed and the photo crinkled and torn before Akut used it as the basis oft he work. The unpredicted special touch was the Montana UV-EFFECT signature that is as discrete as it is interesting (hardly visible at daytime depending on gloss level of substrate/ background. Shines blueish when exposed to UV-light).
