The French-German street art couple MINA & BRUCE who live and work in Berlin are part of the COOL Crew. Their graffiti style has its roots in the early days of graffiti, but they are working on their own interpretation of it to go further. The unique thing about their work is the symbiosis of different medias like street art, graffiti, caricature and sculpture.
From 11th of March until April, MINA & BRUCE will show their work at the Martinez Gallery in New York. The title of their first solo show “50/50” describes their thinking of fair teamwork and interaction. They will show drawings and sculptures, which are based on their murals. In those called “throw-up characters” the couple combines their different styles. The sculptures show caricatures of celebrities like for example Tupac or Mike Tyson. The characters are made out of wood in an individual shape, which reminds you of letters. It’s a series of colorful painted sculptures, but each of them has a specific look.
The gallery is located in New Harlem at 3332 Broadway at 135th street. Opening hours are from Monday till Saturday from 12am to 6pm. If you cross Harlem take a look at the MINA & BRUCE unique solo exhibition “50/50”!
