IBUg made it again! Last weekend about 150 artists and more than 7.500 visitors celebrated the 8th IBUg Urban Culture Festival. The spectacular event took place in Zwickau’s “Eisenwerk”, a rotten industrial ground which the locals call “Fackel”, meaning a torch. Besides loads of wonderful street-art and graffiti, the IBUg came up with a nice programme of films, live music and DJs, dance and art performances. See & read more after the jump.
German graffiti legend LOOMIT gave amusing lectures about 30 years of painting and one could also learn about re-activating former industrial places through arts and culture. Saturday night party people and music lovers witnessed fantastic visuals, light play and decoration at the IBUg party.
Within one week artists from all over Europe, Belarus, Mexico, Argentina, China and the USA had turned the “Eisenwerk” into an impressive masterpiece of art by creating large-scale paintings, detailed illustrations, visuals and installations. You could meet Chromeo, Koala, Benuz, Friendly, Lean Frizzera, Clara Reichertz, Diego Cirulli, Milu Correch, benjAMIN, Valenciennes, PINCHE, Key Detail, Fresh Max, LOOMIT, Atem, Quintessenz Creation, gogoplata, Tasso, Hifi, Threehouse, Beastiestylez, El Bocho and many more.
The project of presenting urban art and culture to a mainstream public aside from metropolis again was successful and even moved on. Yet it’s unclear where and what about the next year’s IBUg will be.
