Recession has hit Ireland hard. The physical result saw many areas of development left abandoned, unfinished. After being approached to paint a wall at one of these sites in a suburban development TDA Klann felt, just painting a wall wouldn’t be enough. They brought about the idea of the festival of urban art to create art in a new space but also to involve the local community to make them feel part of the process thus giving them pride & ownership in the finished result. They hand picked top artists from Ireland & across the globe who would bring a wide range of styles to the area. The event was spread over 3 days with top DJs, top food ,workshops and activities and was visited by young & old from the locality and from across Dublin city,the event even got the attention of the lead singer of U2 “Bono”, who turned up to check out the work.by the end of the third day the whole walkway had been transformed into a permanent openair art gallery.
