Getting an upper hand on a mixed bag of images
Put the two together and invite them to POW! WOW! HAWAII 2020 and you have a recipe for some crazy creation. The final missing ingredients are some Montana GOLD cans and some acrylic paint and brushes. Add some magical Hawaiian sun and a scissor lift and the result is world standard street art.
The mural created by Hall and Butler was an impressive merge of creatures, symbols, and objects with their origins very definitely coming from the artist’s influences. However for the POW! WOW! 10th-anniversary festival the artwork also gave homage to images based around Hawaii and it’s culture. Animals (land and sea), spirits, symbology, and human figures. All in one beautiful mural made by two friends amongst new friends, a long way from home. Making a lot of progress with not much color variation, the artists created an engaging mural with a relatively light-on color palette. Take a look here for yourself.
