To celebrate the launch of the new Montana water-based ACRYLIC Marker range, we thought it best to send some key artist’s back to the lab, to workshop the range put it the test. The first artist was Sebastian Dumjahn a.k.a. Sellout Industries.
Residing in Nuremberg, Germany, Sebastian is as a graphic designer for Adidas, who focus’s on illustrations, typography and apparel design. Also previously featured for the Montana Cans artist series t-shirts, Sellout Industries utilzed the chance to trial the Montana ACRYLIC Markers by customizing a pair of Adicolor sneakers. The markers covered perfectly on the untreated sneakers and the end result was an impressive pair of street smart shoes. 1. Can you tell us something about your person, your background and history?

My name is sebastian aka. Sebo sellout and i´m running a small design and graphics studio called “sellout industries” After spending almost 20 years doing graffiti i decided that i need something else and found myself back as a graphic designer. My main fields of working are ranging from illustration, painting, typography to classic editorial design. Actually i work fulltime. As a senior graphic designer for adidas originals designing graphics for apparel, footwear and accesoires.

2. What are your favorite tools ? Is there a difference between indoor and outdoor work?

My favorite tool is by far the pen, everything starts from here, pen and paper, i´m using a wide variety of markers, pens, brushes, etc, and i´m always on the hunt for new tips and inks to find the perfect paint stroke. Besides that i´m deeply in love with my mac book and my wacom board.

3. Your feedback on the new ACRYLIC Markers? What do you like what you don’t like?

I think the new montana acrylic markers are a great addition to the offer of the brands art supplies. I really like the new improved tips, especially the fine one. It allows me to draw super precise and clean even on rough surfaces, besides that i´m a big fan of the new ink, i really appreciate the way it covers even on dark surfaces. Due to the fact that it´s water based you can easily combine it with a lot of other products which is always a big plus. And last but not least i´m a big fan of the fact the the colors are matching with the rest of the color offer from montana (cans, markers, etc).

4. Would you like to share with us your latest / upcoming projects?

I´m actually in the preparation phase for adidas originals fall winter 13 season and looking forward to a few trip to asia and the states, apart from that i just finished the cover for the next release by my fellows (jr & ph7) and working on a exclusive and limited offer of starter snap back caps.
